I thought I would share with you guys (and Megan) my latest acquisition - an Omega '53 military watch with "thin arrow" dial. This watch was issued only for one year in 1953 in a somewhat limited number. Hi - i'm fairly new to vintage/military watches, am interested in buying a 53 fat arrow but looking for some expert advice - for example is this one genuine? I've seen a few with a serial number over 10000 but I thought that only 5,900 were ever produced?

This lovely condition Omega ‘53 has a faded lume Titrium British MoD “Fat Arrow” dial and original inner soft iron Dust Cover and Crenelated Movement Ring. It has all the correct military issue markings on the caseback.

The Omega RAF ’53 “Fat Arrow” for sale comes from the family of the original owner, who served as an RAF fitter during his National Service in the 1950s. Omega 1953 RAF "Fat Arrow" Pilots Wristwatch, ordered during the Cold War by the British Air Ministry, features a 283 calibre shockproof movement.The Omega ‘Fat Arrow’ is a British Air Ministry (RAF) issued wristwatch. Its official title as denoted inside the case back by Omega is the 2777-1 SC. Manufactured to the precise specifications of the Air Ministry in 1952 and delivered only in 1953 for one year to the Royal Air Force.This watch is extremely rare and one of the most highly collectible British Military watches.
